Position

Part-Time Receptionist position

Hours:

Monday, 8AM-4PM, Tuesday - Thursday 1PM-4PM

Wage: 

$15.00 per hour


Duties:

  • Direct Clients or community partners to their respective appointments
  • Answer and transfer incoming calls appropriately
  • Make appointments on behalf of Client Support and Complementary Health practitioners
  • Distribute mail
  • Provide administrative support
  • Ensure that coffee is available
  • Collect and report on statistical data related to outputs for the Agency
  • Responsible for newspaper clippings and distribution service
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Grad 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in a non profit setting or business setting as a receptionist
  • Knowledge with the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender community, injection drugs using community or other communities vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Thorough knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related issues
  • Knowledge of issues related to diversity, and to the needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
  • Ability work independently
  • Ability to use related equipment
  • Ability to work in cooperation with other
  • Working experience with MS Office

Position Care Team Member
Closing Date Volunteer Position - Whenever you are ready to start

Attributes:
You are a caring and compassionate individual who wants to make a difference by helping individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by AIDS and/or Hepatitis. You are able to offer support and assistance in a confidential and non-judgemental manner to a diverse client base including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and former intravenous drug users. This position requires people who are mature, committed, reliable, sensitive, available and sincere about supporting the many challenges of living with HIV and/or Hepatitis.

Experience:
An extensive personal interview is required to determine eligibility.

Responsibilities:
Working with a team of 3-6 other individuals, volunteers are trained to respond to the ongoing practical, personal care and companionship needs of individuals and families living with AIDS and/or Hepatitis at home, hospital or hospice. Duties may include visitation at home or hospital, light housekeeping chores, meal preparation, grocery shopping, or care for children or pets.

Full training is provided
Reimbursement for mileage
One-year commitment
Time commitment will vary from 2-6 hours per week

Position Volunteer Speaker
Attributes:
You are a communicator with a passion for sharing knowledge. You are able to articulate information. You are comfortable working with diverse people and are a non-judgmental individual. You desire a volunteer position that will positively impact the community.
Experience:
Public speaking experience
Able to work with a wide variety of groups
Demonstrated reliability
Able to think on your feet and respond to audience comments and questions
Responsibilities:
Present workshops on HIV and/or Hepatitis C
Put together a 'speak box' with all required materials (all materials are prepared and just need to be put into 'speak box')
Create a comfortable atmosphere where people will be able to ask questions and participate freely
Teach proper condom use
Act reliably and attend all engagements you agree to
Ensure that all evaluations are filled out and returned at the end of the presentation
Other:
Full training is provided
Re-imbursement for mileage
Excellent opportunity to further your career goals
One-year commitment
Time commitment will vary from 3 to 12 hours per month
